Last week the NAACP called for a new boycott of North Carolina to "literally bring the state to its knees, unless it stands up for civil rights," echoing last year's HB2 boycott that caused progressive travelers to steer clear of Asheville and other NC destinations.

While there are plenty of reasons why this new boycott is not a carbon copy of last year's campaign (most notably, the integrity of its origination within NC as part of a calculated social movement strategy), it is likely to further reinforce the importance of Firestorm's Community Sustainers Program in keeping our co-op open.
