Donate Books

Our co-operative collects new and used books on behalf of local grassroots programs. If you have a large quantity of books to donate, please call ahead to give us advance notice.

We Accept

  • Used and new books
  • Paperbacks less than 2” thick
  • Children’s books in any format

We Do Not Accept

  • Adult hardcovers
  • Magazines & pamphlets
  • Encyclopedias
  • Books in very poor condition

Don't have used books but still want to make a donation? We're happy to help pick out new titles that meet the specific needs of the organizations below.

Asheville Prison Books

avlpb.org

We are a drop off location for Asheville Prison Books, which responds to book requests from incracerated people in North and South Carolina. Due to prison restrictions, donations need to be paperback and less than two inches thick. The books most needed are dictionaries and fiction written by people of color. We host APB for a volunteer training on third Sundays at 1pm.

Rural Organizing And Resilience

ruralorganizing.wordpress.com

We're now collecting children's books for ROAR in Madison County. For each gently used book you bring in to donate we'll give you a discount on a *new* kids title! And your loved (but outgrown) book will be given to a kiddo or public school library in your local mountain community.

Tranzmission Prison Project

tranzmissionprisonproject.org

We are a drop off location for Tranzmission Prison Project, which responds to book requests from incarcerated members of the LGBTQ community. Due to prison restrictions, donations need to be paperback and less than two inches thick. The books most needed are queer fiction, LGBTQ history, and transition support literature. We host TPP for a packaging party on fourth Thursdays at 6pm.
