Community Heater Build

Have you been curious about how to get involved in mutual aid in Asheville? Do you want to learn how to build an inexpensive, safe, and effective heater from parts you can easily find at any hardware store? Join us on Thursday, February 22nd at 5pm for a community heater build! No technical skills needed—organizers will provide the tools and teach you how to assemble a copper coil alcohol heater.

Note - if possible, please bring one or more 6" terra-cotta flower pots, which will be used in assembling heaters!

Copper coil alcohol heaters can be made for under $7 and will extinguish when tipped, making them much safer to use for heating a residential tent. HEAT saves lives! Learn more from the Heater Bloc Guide to Tent-Safe Heaters.

Asheville Survival Program is an interdependent web of working groups, growing together by practicing mutual aid to meet distinct survival needs while co-creating a thriving world.

To increase accessibility for high risk community members, Firestorm requires masking at all indoor events. Learn more
