"Through the Portal" Book Signing

Jessica Wright, a graduate of Pisgah High School and Brevard College, presents the first in a new young adult fantasy series about four runaway foster kids who live in an abandoned apartment in Asheville!

William, Meredith, Jake, Henry and Josie steal what they need to survive, but, one night a strange girl named Katherine helps them. She convinces the children to let her stay the night with them and before they know it they are being whisked away into her world, a land called Mirra. A place where the sky is a rainbow, mushrooms taste like bananas and giant serpents burst out of the ground to devour them. As soon as they get there, their lives are in danger and she tells them they must get to the Blue Palace as quickly as possible. With no better alternatives they follow the Katherine, but even she isn’t sure if they will make it there in one piece.

Jessica is a Western North Carolina native whoe earned a degree in Psychology from Brevard College of North Carolina. While in college Jessica never silenced her call to storytelling through literature and took many writing classes as she was earning her Psychology degree. Much to the amazement of her college professors, that she wasn’t a creative writing major, Jessica earned publishing in the literary magazines, "The Cat's Meow for Writers & Readers" and "Chiaroscuro" and also winning the Achievement in Playwriting Award for her ten-minute-play script. Jessica put her college degree to good use helping children as an educator and continued to write.
