Queer Kids Radical Reading

A Fierce Fundraiser!

Join us for an awesome read aloud and art auction to raise funds for the fabulous Fierce Flix summer camp!

Students from Warren Wilson College will read picture books and chapter book excerpts that highlight the stories of queer characters and the history of our queer community. Each reading will last around thirty minutes, so kids and adults can drop in throughout the afternoon event.

2pm–2:45pm Picture book reading (ages 5 to 8)
3pm–3:45pm Chapter book reading (ages 9 to 12)
4pm–4:40pm Poetry reading
4:40pm–5pm Question & Answer

Simultaneously, there will be a silent art auction featuring the work of local LGBTQ+ artists. Take home something unique to support Fierce Flix campers and camp operations. Your support helps the camp offer no questions asked sliding scale tuition while providing all the supplies needed to make videos during camp.

Fierce Flix is a summer film camp open to trans, non-binary, queer, and femme youth ages 8-16. Fierce Flix is a non-profit social justice project that provides mentorship, film and media education, and leadership development to youth in Western North Carolina. Their goals are to interrupt a system of patriarchal gender inequality and support a youth led movement for social change through film.

The organizer of this event marked it kid-friendly. 😛
